The hidden disabilities toolkit
– enabling a whole organisation approach.

The tool kit is designed to:

  • Help individuals who have hidden disabilities.
  • Provide information for line management and colleagues.
  • Explain how ‘reasonable adjustments’ may be made.
  • Provide a resource of tools and techniques.
  • Give signposts to more help.

The toolkit is presented as a paper resource and as an electronic version for a company intranet.

There are six sections in three parts:

  • The cream pages in Section 1, Section 2 and Section 3 provide general information about hidden disabilities, and more specific information on identifying and supporting individuals in the workplace.
  • The blue pages of Section 4 and Section 6 provide strategies to help with specific areas of difficulty. A ‘pick and mix’ approach means that the pages can be used individually.
  • The Section 5 white pages provide an awareness training session for staff.
Think different ability not disability.
