The hidden disabilities toolkit
– enabling a whole organisation approach.
The tool kit is designed to:
- Help individuals who have hidden disabilities.
- Provide information
for line management and colleagues.
- Explain how ‘reasonable
adjustments’ may be made.
- Provide a resource of tools
and techniques.
- Give signposts to more help.
The toolkit is presented as a paper resource
and as an electronic version for a company intranet.
There are
six sections in three parts:
- The cream pages in Section 1, Section 2 and Section
3 provide general information about hidden disabilities, and
more specific information on identifying and supporting individuals
in the workplace.
- The blue pages of Section 4 and Section 6
provide strategies to help with specific areas of difficulty.
A ‘pick and
mix’ approach means that the pages can be used individually.
- The
Section 5 white pages provide an awareness training session
for staff.
